The first domestic monograph on the chemistry of carbenes - divalent carbon compounds, which are highly reactive intermediate particles. Structure and reactivity of carbenes and their closest analogues, use of carbenes and products of their reactions in fine and industrial organic synthesis are considered. Typical procedures are described.
