This tutorial introduces the basic concepts of continuum mechanics. A number of issues are considered in depth: the tensor apparatus is expanded, the matrix representation of mechanical objects is used. In addition, the sections of deformable body mechanics and fluid mechanics, which are traditionally presented in different courses, are presented here in a parallel presentation, more characteristic of understanding these problems in terms of their relationship and mutual influence in real processes.
