The Point of No Return is a disaster novel, a warning novel about how terrible the reckoning for weakness can be. "Korsakov syndrome" is the name of the disease that the protagonist of the novel is trying unsuccessfully to cope with. Each drunk glass, slowly but inexorably changing consciousness, day after day brings it closer to the edge, beyond which there are no relatives, no friends, no prestigious work, not even the past. The stories of Nikolai Kutsenko included in the collection are full of deep drama and psychologism, the author shows the heroes at special, turning points in their lives, at the moments of the so-called "break points," when personality, character, attitude to the world are manifested most of all.
