The monograph by Yuri Valentinovich Knorozov (1922-1999) contains information about the history and culture of the Maya, the grammar of the Maya language, the principles of deciphering hieroglyphs, images of gods, people and animals in manuscripts. Fragments of ancient manuscripts and comments on them are given, a short Mayan-Russian dictionary is attached.
