No matter how extensive the literature on the history of the Great Patriotic War of the Soviet Union, many issues of this heroic epic have not yet become the subject of research, and for some of them, including fundamental ones, individual publications suffer from the lack of the necessary clarity and strict objectivity of interpretation. The All-Union Scientific Conference "Historiography of the Great Patriotic War" was devoted to summing up the results and achievements of historiography of the Great Patriotic War, determining unresolved problems, the most significant problems that need further development. The basis of this collection was the materials of the plenary meeting and three sections of conferences, revised by the authors in the form of scientific articles and messages. Being essentially the first consolidated historiographic publication about the Great Patriotic War, this collection, of course, does not pretend to exhaustively cover all the issues considered in it.
