Classification, biological features and origin of vegetable plants are given. Technologies of vegetable crops growing in protected and open ground are considered. Vegetable growing is a branch of crop production engaged in the production of vegetables - juicy organs (fruits, root formations, tubers, bulbs, leaves, stems, inflorescences) of annual, small and perennial herbaceous plants eaten raw and processed, as well as edible mushrooms. The second edition (the first was published in 1993) was revised and supplemented - new varieties, pesticides, etc. are described for university students studying in agronomic specialties.
