The monograph is devoted to the use of modern computer technology for constructing meteorological fields both for the purpose of automatically preparing initial data for numerical forecasting and for automatically constructing diagnostic and prognostic maps. A number of related issues are also outlined, in particular, the structure of meteorological fields and the rational location of the station network.
