On the biographical material of outstanding artists, as well as on the basis of the study of artistically gifted children and adolescents, the book considers the issue of the manifestation and development of abilities for visual activity. A large place is given to a critical analysis of studies of artistic abilities performed by foreign psychologists. The main part of the book consists of experimental studies of the abilities necessary for the successful execution of realistic images of objects of reality.
