The history of research on control theory is told. The main attention is paid to the work of the second half of the 20th century, including studies of the unexpected properties of equivalent transformations of control systems. Recommendations were given to graduate students and applicants passing a candidate exam in the history and philosophy of science in specialties related to control, automation, automated electric drive, etc.
