Like many other events of the Great Patriotic War, the battles on the Kursk Bulge were actually classified by the Soviet side for decades. For half a century, only a limited circle of military specialists had access to the documents of the troops involved in this crucial battle. Only recently were these funds finally opened. Valery Zamulin was one of the first to begin their analysis and systematization. Declassified documents of the Central Archive of the Russian Ministry of Defense and the trophy department of the US National Archives allow the author to describe in detail the climax of the Battle of Kursk.
