The book of the famous military writer V.V. Karpov is dedicated to one of the outstanding commanders of the Great Patriotic War, Ivan Khristoforovich Baghramyan. However, the theme of this work is special: it deals with a difficult post-war era. The West declared a crusade against the USSR, there was a threat of a new world war, this time atomic. The material support of the army, capable of fighting in the conditions of the use of atomic weapons, came to the fore. In 1958, the country's leadership decided that the Rear of the Armed Forces of the USSR should be headed not only by a good quartermaster, but also by a commander competent in matters of strategy and ensuring hostilities in the new conditions. Marshal I.Kh. Baghramyan was appointed to this responsible position; he served in this post for a decade.
