The physical foundations of optoelectronics are outlined: the generation and reception of electromagnetic waves of the optical range, their propagation in various media, the effects of radiation field control. The most important optoelectronic devices and systems are considered: fiber-optic communication lines, information display devices, optocouples, integrated optics devices, optoelectronic sensors, photo readers, optical storage devices, optical processors.
