For the first time published in the book, the texts are folklore records of fairy tales and legends made in 1927-1928. a major philologist, researcher of the Russian language and its dialects, corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences Vasily Ilyich Chernyshev (1867-1949) in the districts of s. Mikhailovsky, s. B. Boldina and in the Bezhanitsky district (near the village of Mikhailovsky). Of the 102 fairy tales recorded by the collector, 84 texts were reproduced in the publication. V.I. Chernyshev did not have time to finish preparing all the texts and the work was completed by N.P. Grinkova and N.T. Panchenko. Collecting tales of Pushkin places, the researcher saw his main task in collecting materials that are of the closest relation to the tales of A.S. Pushkin.
