The book gives a holistic picture of the complex socio-political struggle that unfolded in the Russian state at the initial stage of the civil war - in 1603-1606. Based on new sources, the author clarifies many events of the Troubles. In the center of the story is False Dmitry I, whom the author identifies with Grigory Otrepiev.
