Nothing stays dead for long. The dead come back to life, reasonable, decisive... and very hungry. Salvation seems elusive to Jim Thurmond, one of several survivors of this nightmare. However, his son is still alive and they are separated by hundreds of miles. The chances of success are slim, but Jim vows to find the boy - or die. Along with an aged priest, a guilt-ridden scientist and a former prostitute, he embarks on a journey across the country. The heroes will have to fight enemies, alive and dead, and even more terrible evil, which awaits them at the end of the adventure.
