The book of the major philologist and orientalist Max Müller (1823-1900) is a publication in the Russian translation of a series of his "Lectures on the Science of Language." Borrowing a lot in the science of language from his predecessors Franz Bopp and Wilhelm von Humboldt, supporting a number of provisions of his contemporaries August Schleicher and Georg Kurzius, Max Müller focused in his lectures on establishing general patterns of the existence and evolution of language, linking the study of languages ​ ​ with the study of the culture and religious views of peoples.
