The boundaries of literary eras usually do not coincide with the boundaries of centuries. And yet, both in the minds of contemporaries and in the perception of descendants (including researchers and "interpreters"), such boundaries are very tangible and immutable. There is, of course, the awareness of time lines imposed on an ordinary person (however, not only on him) by the traditional attitude, which sometimes translates into a manic expectation of the "end of the world," "last judgment," generally some kind of inevitable and fatal fracture and general death (for example, on the eve of 1000, when a peculiar psychosis covered huge masses of the population of Western Europe).
