The question of Pushkin's literary ties with Goldsmith cannot be introduced into the closed framework of Pushkin studies or exclusively Pushkin's personal tastes and preferences. Therefore, the named question is only part of the general theme of assimilation of the heritage of the English writer by Russian literature and - more broadly - by Russian culture and requires for its solution the designation of the Goldsmith context in Russian literature for about half a century after the first (in fact) acquaintance with Goldsmith in Russia.
