Tales (huaben) - heroic, magical, love - were created by medieval storytellers, later processed by writers. They sound either an old popular plot, or an ancient literary source, set forth under the influence and with an admixture of urban folklore. Regular characters in the stories are merchants and robbers, werewolves and spirits, military leaders, singers and monks; fiction in them is adjacent to reality, a description of low life.
