This book includes the works of the untimely deceased Leningrad orientalist Viktor Andreevich Velgus (1922-1980); these are studies and materials devoted to the study of different aspects of the culture of China of the X-XV centuries, and above all the Song period (960-1279). The text of the collection is systematized by sections: I. Source study; II. Chinese navigation of the X-XV centuries.; III. Literary studies. Translations. All the works of V.A. Velgus placed in this book, with the exception of the article "Tseng-tan - Zangistan of the 11th century - in Chinese written sources," written in 1973 and published posthumously, are published in Russian for the first time. A bibliography of the works of V.A. Velgus is attached to the collection.
