Pavel Vasilievich Annenkov went down in history as the founder of Pushkin studies, the author of the first critically prepared collected works of Pushkin (1855-1857) and the first extensive biography of Pushkin - "Materials for the biography of Pushkin" (1855), later, collecting new materials and having the opportunity in more liberal censorship conditions to publish many old ones, published the book "Pushkin in the Alexander era" (1874). Annenkov worked with Pushkin's manuscripts, interviewed the poet's contemporaries, and conducted a systematic survey of the contemporary poet of the press. Contemporaries praised Annenkov's work.
