Having re-examined the history of the creation and activities of the Semirechensk Cossack army, the author showed the reasons and mechanism of the behavior of the Cossacks in the critical years 1917-1918. The work is of a search nature and contains a lot of reflections that contribute to understanding one of the features of the historical process in Semirechye at the beginning of the 20th century.
