The book contains translations of speeches and letters of Isocrates, as well as a number of other ancient Greek speakers, which are usually called small Attic - Hyperis, Lycurgus, Dinarchus, Aeschines. Public eloquence was one of the brightest manifestations of ancient culture. With particular completeness, it developed in the cultural center of ancient Hellas - Athens in the late classical time (IV century BC). Defenders of polysyna freedom and autonomy, Lycurgus and Hyperides put their talent in the service of democracy. Isocrates, Aeschines, Dinarchus were in the opposite camp, gravitating to unity under the auspices of the Macedonian kings. The speeches of all these speakers (and some of them were first translated into Russian) are an important source for studying social life, political struggle and public sentiment in ancient Greece. At the same time, these are precious monuments of ancient oratory prose. In the section "Additions" biographies of small Attic speakers are given. The publication is equipped with an article and extensive scientific commentary.
