This anthology presents fragments of world-famous works written in Latin during the Middle Ages and Renaissance. The publication for the first time acquaints the Russian reader with religious hymns, extracts from scientists (philosophical, moral and ethical) and historical treatises, as well as with everyday novels, legends, with love and comic poetry. Here are collected fragments of the poetry of the vagants and the "Confession" of Blessed Augustine, the "Praise of Stupidity" by Erasmus of Rotterdam and the letters of Francesco Petrarch, the treatise "Monarchy" by Dante and the facets of Poggio Bracciolini.
