The book shows the history of European integration and international economic relations from the end of World War II to the end of the 1960s. The work is based on documentary materials from eleven archives (seven Russian and four foreign), a significant part of which is being introduced into scientific circulation for the first time. The logic and evolution of the Soviet perception of integration processes in Western Europe from the point of view of global and regional interests of the USSR is shown. The successes and failures of CMEA, the "eastern" integration model, are analyzed. For the first time, a documentary analysis of the foreign economic policy of the period of the "early" leadership of the country by the team of L. I. Brezhnev is carried out, the role of Chinese and Japanese factors in the global and regional politics of Moscow is shown.
