The monograph provides an analysis of Russia's place in the world economy, from ancient times to the present day. During the period of Kievan Rus, our country was one of the first in the world, after the Tatar-Mongol invasion it was significantly squeezed out and only in the 18th-19th centuries. Russia again advanced to the front positions, taking fourth place in the world in terms of production at the beginning of the 20th century. A totalitarian system with a command administrative model of the economy allowed the country to take second place in the world. This model has exhausted its resources over time. The task is to integrate Russia into the world economy on a market and democratic basis and integration into the European Union. Today, Russia ranks 10th in the world in terms of GNP.
