This book is based on lectures given by J. Sakurai to undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Chicago in 1967. Lectures cover issues of symmetry theory, current algebra and vector dominance model. The lectures are supplemented by an author's review of the achievements and prospects of the vector dominance model.
