The textbook sets out the history of Bulgarian literature from the time of the emergence of writing (mid-9th century) to the present day. It contains a general description of the literary process and analyzes the work of individual writers. Book (1st ed. - 1978) was supplemented with new material on modern literature of the NRB, the characteristics of literary and artistic directions were expanded.
