The monograph is a comprehensive study of the early medieval burial ground Mamisondon (Republic of North Ossetia - Alania), carried out with the involvement of a wide range of specialists. The burial ground dates from the end of the 7th - beginning of the 9th centuries. The book provides an analysis of the funeral rite and equipment. The monograph contains appendices devoted to the analysis of soils, wood, glass, metal, tissue fragments, sections on anthropology, archaeozoology, chronology of individual categories of objects. The location of the monument in the contact zone, on the Transcaucasian route connecting the South Russian steppes with Transcaucasia, led to the interweaving of various cultural features in the rite and inventory. The materials of the Mamisondon burial ground reflect the complex ethnic and historical processes that took place in the Zaramag basin during the Arab-Khazar wars.
