The monograph examined the main trends, stages and results of the socio-economic policy of the USSR in the context of the liberalization of the Soviet system in the middle of the 20th century, and raised a number of controversial issues of modern Russian history. On the basis of new archival and other materials, power institutions, their structure and evolution are analyzed.
