Roman Staircase Jacob (Hebrew version of Dante in Moscow) was awarded the 2001 Prize of the President of the State of Israel in the field of literature. The novel Jacob's Ladder is dedicated to the generation of spiritual awakening (60s) in the USSR. This also led to the awakening of national identity among the Jews of silence - this is how Russian Jewry was called in the West - which led to repatriation to Israel in the 70s, and then - to a mass outcome - in the 90s. The protagonist of the novel, psychiatrist Emanuel Cardin, "opens Dantevsky hell through the eyes of his patients in two Moscow psychiatric hospitals, one of which is called a sanatorium for positive victims of the regime - former torturers and executioners. In fact, all the novels of Ephraim Bauch, which make up the semilogy of the Dream about life, are devoted to the great phenomenon of the past twentieth century - The exodus of Jews from Russia, which largely laid the foundation for the collapse and disappearance of the USSR. The author foresaw the beginning of this process back in the 60s, but all his foresight in those years truly seemed like the delirium of a madman who once confirmed the biblical saying "There is no prophet in his homeland.
