The book offered to the reader by the English philosopher E. Caird (1835-1908) is dedicated to the great German thinker Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, who created one of the most famous universal philosophical systems, from which many later teachings were based. Describing the life path and teachings of Hegel, the author seeks to connect the facts of the biography of the scientist with the formation of his philosophical views. Hegel's personality is shown not only in thoughts about the structure of the universe, but also in everyday stories that reveal the character of an outstanding thinker. As an appendix, the book contains an article by the great Russian philosopher Vladimir Solovyov on Hegel's philosophy.
