This book is about the life of the outstanding Soviet physicist, academician, Hero of Socialist Labor Pyotr Leonidovich Kapitsa. Little has been written about Kapitsa. Abroad, at one time he was called the Russian atomic tsar. In English, German, French editions, he was called the black demon of science, from whose gaze not only laboratory assistants fluttered.
