Based on historical, literary and archival materials, the monograph examines the development of the architecture of Leningrad theaters in certain historical epochs in connection with the social and artistic and cultural life of the city. The evolution of Western European theaters, the mutual influence of domestic and Western European theater architecture are shown. The characteristics of the theaters of the Soviet period are given.
