A special place in the fifth volume is occupied by the article "The Science of Jewry," dedicated to the entire complex of sciences studying various aspects of Jewish civilization. In terms of the breadth of the material, the completeness of information about different periods of the development of Judaism, its various branches and outstanding scientists who have worked or are working in the field of scientific self-knowledge of Jewry, this article is unique: there is no similar in other encyclopedias. The need for such an article is dictated by the almost complete absence of informative and bibliographic material in Russian on Jewish studies, including information about the huge contribution of Jewish researchers to its development in recent years.
