As the name suggests, the series was supposed to publish the works of a wide range of famous science fiction writers, but the circumstances were such that only the main works of J.R. R. Tolkien were published, which, being among his first publications in Russia, played a role in satisfying the "book hunger" that existed at that time on the works of this classic. They were first published in the translation of V. A. M. (V. A. Matorina), which is considered by many readers and critics to be one of the best translations of Tolkien into Russian.
