Irwin Shaw's novel "Stirred Air," written in 1952, is practically unknown to the Russian reader. The book is set in the United States during the McCarthyism era. Despite the socio-political basis of the conflict, the novel is written surprisingly vividly and easily, and all problems are viewed through the prism of the heroes' personal relationships.
