For many decades in the late XIX - early XX centuries, almost all European countries were read by the adventures of the king of detectives Nat Pinkerton, the only one whose fame rivaled that of Sherlock Holmes. However, if the image of Holmes arose under the pen of Sir Conan Doyle, then Pinkerton, almost as immortal, was created by someone unknown, moreover, not in the English-speaking world, but in Germany. In Russia, in recent years, many books have been reprinted telling about him, but there has never been an attempt to publish the most complete set of issues of these adventures.
