The monograph is devoted to the study of the mechanism of coexistence and interaction of various languages ​ ​ and styles in Gogol's poetic system. Languages ​ ​ and styles are understood here in the broadest sense: from the languages ​ ​ of national (Russian, French, Ukrainian) to the languages ​ ​ of various types of arts (literature, painting) and various religions (Orthodoxy, Catholicism). Particular attention is paid to baroque as an important substrate of Gogol writing.
