For less than two centuries of the existence of the Russian Empire, not many tokens were issued by the country's mints. Their artistic language is simple and their legends succinct. Compared to commemorative medals, they are rather modest, but we must not forget that these small pieces of metal immortalized important, and sometimes fateful events in Russian history.
