Volume 1. Great terror in a small Caucasian republic. Volume 2. Documents and statistics. For the first time in the historiography of the Great Terror, on the example of Georgia, all three main mass operations of the NKVD are investigated together: an operation by order No. 00447 ("kulak" operation), an operation along "national lines" and social cleansing ("police" troika). At the same time, the specifics of terror in Georgia are at the center of the study: the transfer of part of the punitive powers from the center to the places found expression here in the mass condemnation of the elites by the troika under the NKVD of the Georgian SSR, an extrajudicial instance, actually intended for the accelerated condemnation of ordinary Soviet citizens, far from power and related privileges.
