The next volume of the Encyclopedia of the Third Reich is dedicated to the Wehrmacht - the armed forces of Germany. To be precise, not only the Wehrmacht - after all, this name appeared only in 1935 - but the armed forces of the Nazi state retained the name "Reichswehr" adopted in the Weimar Republic. The twelve-year history of the German armed forces is very eventful, its structure is complex and confusing, and, of course, one volume cannot accommodate all the nuances - the ground forces, the navy and the air force are too different from each other - the Luftwaffe. This book contains information regarding the supreme governing bodies of all armed forces, as well as facts regarding the organizational structure, formations and associations, institutions, senior command personnel, holders of the highest degrees of orders, awards, insignia of the ground forces of Nazi Germany.
