The book is dedicated to the life and work of a major Russian public figure, publicist, philosopher and theologian Sergei Nikolaevich Bulgakov (1871-1944). Starting his scientific career as an economist and supporter of "legal Marxism," Bulgakov makes an ideological evolution towards ideological philosophy, and then theology. His path became a symbol of the spiritual searches of Russian society at the beginning of the 20th century.
