This edition reproduces Spinoza's two-volume 1957 collected works with a new introductory article and commentary. It includes the Theological and Political Treatise, Ethics and other famous works. Following Descartes, Spinoza takes geometry as a methodical pattern. Cogito validity becomes an axiomatic basis and externally philosophy unfolds into a deductive system, ordine geometrico. However, according to Husserl, "this axiomatic basis lies deeper than the basis of geometry...," gaining its own soil in the self-confidence of the substance as a subject. Around this revolves the thought of Spinoza hidden behind geometric constructions.
