From the first days of the Eastern Campaign, the main "headache" of the Wehrmacht was Soviet armored vehicles, to combat which the Nazis were forced to throw all their forces - tanks and assault guns, infantry and dive bombers, anti-tank artillery and anti-aircraft guns. The famous Tigers and Panthers were also created primarily as "killers" of Russian tanks - it did not help. As a result, the Germans had to develop a whole family of specialized combat vehicles - the so-called Jagdpanzer's ("tank destroyers"), from light "hatzer" and medium Jagdpanzer IV to heavy "Jagdpanter" and super-heavy "Jagdtigers," rightfully considered the most powerful anti-tank self-propelled guns of the Second World War, - in terms of arming the conning tower JagdTiger surpassed even the legendary "Ferdinands," and his a monstrous 128-mm gun hit any armored vehicle at a distance of up to 3 kilometers! Conceived as another Wunderwaffe ("miracle weapon"), which was supposed to change the course of the war, the Jagdtigr did not live up to its hopes, becoming the same redundant and virtually useless combat vehicle as the Royal Tiger: "The opponents of Hitler's Germany had no goals worthy of a 128-mm gun. From the metal necessary for the manufacture of one Yagdtigra, it was possible to make four "hetzer" - the best light anti-tank self-propelled guns of the war, from which there was much more sense! "
