This book is devoted to the history and evolution of the elegiac genre in the first quarter of the 19th century. The authors' goal was to describe in the historical and literary categories the "elegiac school" of the 1800-1810s, having examined it through the prism of the dominant genre - elegy; to try to determine her relation to tradition and her discovery in the field of poetic thinking and language; outline the ways of its historical development.
