The book gives a brief history of the development of domestic diesel locomotive construction, indicating the priority of the USSR in the development of the theory of diesel locomotives and their application in railway transport for driving passenger and freight trains. A brief description of the general structure of diesel locomotives of the USSR locomotive fleet is given. The device of diesel locomotives accepted for construction after the end of World War II is considered in detail.
