In 1760, the printing house of Moscow University published A Brief Russian Chronicler with Genealogy, the first textbook on Russian history prepared by M.V. Lomonosov and presented as an educational book addressed to the heir to the throne, the future emperor, six-year-old Pavel Petrovich. In his preface-dedication, written in the form of a poetic ode, Lomonosov calls on the future sovereign: "In your infancy, we see a worthy fruit. Grow and rise, be attached to glorious works, With great-grandfather greatness equal, Reach late years, as a person can. Add God to you incomplete ancestors of the century. Come in their footsteps, after Elizabeth, "You will be as great as they are, loved in the light."
