In 1873-1879 Professor of St. Petersburg University I.N. Berezin, involving a number of other professors, published a 16-volume "Russian Encyclopedic Dictionary," the structure of which imitates the German Brockhaus dictionary. The direction of this dictionary is conservative, with a noticeable nationalist connotation.
