"Murder of Democracy" by the American historian-researcher William Bloom is the most complete description of the toolkit of the open and hidden activities of the American foreign affairs agencies and special services. A clear historical analysis of 56 open and covert US interventions during the Cold War years demonstratively demonstrates the global scale of American aggression and the brutal sophistication of execution on a case-by-case basis. Bloom argues that the United States, contrary to its rhetoric and conventional wisdom, was by no means promoting democracy. On the contrary, in one state after another, methodically and ruthlessly, directly and by the hands of mercenaries, the United States destroyed opinions, movements, parties, people objectionable to them in order to bring its proteges to power.
